About the competition
Building on the success of our 2020/2021 Kids' History Essay Competition which replaced our in-person History Summer Camp, we are instituting the essay competition as an annual event, in furtherance of our mission to ensure all African kids are grounded in the knowledge and appreciation of Africa's rich historical and cultural heritage.
This year we would like our children to write and submit an essay on the following topic:
‘How have Africa's major rivers contributed to her development (from ancient times to date) and what is their relevance to her future?’
The 2022 essay competition is themed on exploring Africa's geographical endowments, in the form of its rich tapestry of major rivers, to understand how they connect us with our past, our present and our future. We believe it will be a rich experience for our kids and are looking forward to reading their essays!
