2023 Kids' History Essay Competition

In furtherance of our mission to ensure all African kids are grounded in the knowledge and appreciation of Africa's rich historical and cultural heritage, we are inviting children to participate in the 3rd edition of our annual Kid's History Essay competition.

This year we would like our children to write and submit an essay on the following topic:

‘Exemplars of African Leadership (from ancient history to modern times)’

On this topic, we would like our children to write about two of their favorite African leaders (one from ancient history; and one from modern times). We would love to read about why these leaders are special to them, how they influence the way they view the world, and what impact these leaders have on any of their personal goals.

The 2023 essay competition is themed on exploring the concept of Leadership in Africa, to aid an understanding of the different paradigms of leadership Africa has had, how these paradigms have changed from ancient times to date, and what this means for the future of the continent. We believe it will be a rich experience for our kids and are looking forward to reading their essays!
